LADING

Relaxing Through a Contemplative Path

As I was browsing my new favorite magazine, Spirituality and Health, I came across a small ad in the last few pages. It could easily have gone unnoticed. I’m not sure what was even being advertised, but something kept tugging at me to circle around it like a cautious child. It was a picture of a labyrinthine path, with just a hint of lavender growing in the center. For those of us with small backyard spaces, but grand wills for contemplative walking, this image struck me.

So off to Home Depot I went with walking stones in mind. After a few price, weight, color, choices I had found my stones. Well, they were actually paving bricks, but they worked just fine. I took a few deep breaths, and began to lay the path gently into my patch of mimosa ground cover. Each brick seemed to nestle in and give a slight sigh as it had found it’s new home in the warm soft earth. The path has become a place to walk, think, and enjoy each gentle step.

If you’re looking for a journey, or just a quick breath of fresh air, a labyrinth just might be the place for a contemplative stroll.
